Neighbourhood Retailer Summit
The biggest dedicated conference, trade show, and Gala Awards Dinner of its kind for the retail industry in Northern Ireland is coming to Belfast in 2019.
The Neighbourhood Retailer Summit comes at a crucial point in time for the industry, marking the beginning of a new journey and a period of development for traders in Northern Ireland.
At a time when the industry needs it most, this event will explore the latest trends, game changing technologies, in-depth insights, food-to-go opportunities all within the theme ‘The Future of Retail’.
Over 500 delegates are expected to gather at the Crowne Plaza, Shaw’s Bridge on November 14, 2019 for a day of high-energy looking at what is next for the retail industry globally.
This is a must-attend event for any CEO, director, or senior manager of a team within retail whether that be a neighbourhood, convenience, forecourt, symbol, supermarket, wholesale, hospitality, cafe, restaurant, or eating out-of-home business.
The Summit will take a threefold format with a fast-paced conference and trade show during the day culminating in the 21st Neighbourhood Retailer Awards’ Gala Awards Dinner in the evening.
Eight internationally renowned speakers will take to the stage to motivate, inspire, and ignite innovations in Northern Ireland’s diverse retail sector.
Difficult times are always a catalyst for innovation and evolution, and have resulted in an escalation in creativity, especially in the area of food-to-go.
Research from Kantar Worldpanel reveals that in 2017, the UK spent £49 billion on food and drink purchased and consumed outside of the home.
Out of home (OOH) consumption makes up nearly half (41 percent) of global spend on snacking and non-alcoholic beverages. In some categories, such as coffee, purchases outside the home make up as much as 70 percent of total spend, exposing a significant opportunity for retailers and manufacturers.
Over the course of the dynamic conference we will be exploring ways in which Northern Ireland’s retailers can take advantage of this growing global market.
The fantastic speaker line-up will feature world-class presenters who have all succeeded on the global stage in retail and food service.
Ken Hughes, consumer shopper behaviourist, will deliver an exciting presentation on achieving success through shopper centricity, while president and CEO of Aramark Northern Europe, Frank Gleeson will bring a unique perspective to the conference on the transformational change currently taking place in the industry while drawing on what needs to be done to achieve success on a national and international stage. John McHugh, director of corporate communication for top 15, US convenience store Kwik Trip will be taking delegates through how this legendary convenience brand with over 680 stores has created a mission-driven culture. Creating a shopper experience has never been more imperative and CEO, Caffè Nero UK, Will Stratton-Morris will be able to examine the role of customer service and ensuring each visit is experiential in his fireside chat with conference host. County Down local, Jim Clerkin, President and CEO of Moët Hennessy will be delving deeper into ‘Making it Big on the Global Stage’ including his personal journey over a 35 year career. Another fantastic speaker joining the line-up is Ben Miller, Global Insights Director at IGD, who is an expert in his field and has tracked and reported on all the top global retailers from Walmart to Tesco. The Summit will conclude with a standout speech from keynote speaker Sir Chris Hoy on what it takes to achieve ‘Everyday Greatness’.
